Saje Pain Release Cream
You can access a wealth of natural pain management options at Saje. Pain Release is one of our oldest product formulations, and now includes a cream, a body oil, a bath salt and a roll-on. The Pain Release family of products were formulated to address daily aches and pains that appear as muscle pain, strains and soreness. The aroma of these products is mild, earthy and herbaceous, and they work from the inside out to provide gentle yet efficacious relief that feels warm and comforting. When we decided to create the Pain Release joint & arthritis cream, we wanted to maintain the principles of what this line has meant to us for so many years, but with an innovative twist.
New: Saje Pain Release Cream
Pain Release cream is specially formulated to tackle joint pain and arthritis. This comforting, easing and relieving cream uses what are commonly referred to as analgesic (numbing) essential oils for gentle, yet effective pain release. This product delivers benefits from 3 key essential oils, copaiba, L-menthol from peppermint, and marjoram, to create a product experience that is both aromatic and topically stimulating.
L-menthol from peppermint: this is the active ingredient in the formula that works to cool and soothe the skin and body as it tackles pain. Peppermint oil contains a notable active compound, menthol, which acts as a potent counterirritant when applied topically. Menthol works by stimulating the skin’s cold receptors, triggering a cooling sensation and reducing the perception of pain, temporarily diverting attention from the underlying discomfort. Peppermint is an excellent choice for topical pain relief, offering both aromatic and sensorial benefits.
Copaiba: this resinous oil's aroma is often described as mild, woody, and slightly sweet, and it has a base note quality, which means it has a grounding and calming effect on the blend. It has been used for centuries by indigenous cultures for its medicinal properties and is considered one of the most sustainable essential oils due to its non-destructive harvesting method. It has gained traction in recent years because of the promise it's shown relative to pain and recovery for the body. Copaiba contains high amounts of a component called beta-caryophyllene, known for its potent anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Based on the principles for use in both aromatherapy and traditional historical modalities, this essential oil may be used as a valuable contributor to help relieve local pain in the body. It may also be used in massage to soothe tension in the body and to alleviate soreness.
Marjoram: a staple in many of the products we offer in the pain and recovery category at Saje. This oil is soft, warming and herbaceous, and is thought to be balancing and soothing during times of both emotional and physical turbulence. It's commonly used in topical preparations to ease and relieve a fatigued body, providing feelings of decompression and comfort.
These essential oils are then blended into a luxurious, non-greasy, highly absorbent base that includes ingredients like jojoba oil, glycerin and shea nut butter for easy application, which has the added benefit of hydrating and softening the skin.
Next, let’s learn more about the different types of pain we experience, and various pain management techniques that can help us feel our best.
The need for various pain management techniques
Whether pain lasts a short time or a long time, it can impact the way we experience and enjoy life. For example, arthritis might affect your ability and inclination to be active, which then affects your physical health. You might also be in too much pain to participate in social events with friends and family, which slowly leads to isolation.
Truly, there are many ways pain can eat away at your life, which is why it’s so important to have multiple pain management techniques and strategies that benefit both your physical and mental health. Not every method will work for everyone, which is why having options is key. Thankfully, natural remedies can work in harmony with pre-established pain management techniques.
Understanding types of pain
Everyone experiences pain differently. For instance, we may have different pain thresholds. But, don't let the comparison game stop you from taking your pain seriously. You deserve to live pain-free, and treatment starts with understanding the kind of pain you're experiencing. There are four main types of pain: acute, chronic, neuropathic, and nociceptive.
Acute
Acute pain is short-term. Pain is considered acute when it lasts from just minutes, all the way up to three months. This kind of pain is usually associated with an injury or temporary illness that needs time to fully heal. Once the injury or illness has healed, the pain subsides. However, acute pain can evolve into chronic pain if the injury doesn’t heal properly.
Chronic
Chronic pain is long-term and it can be constant or intermittent. Chronic pain usually lasts months or years. It’s considered to be chronic even if the pain comes and goes, so long as it’s due to the same source. Sources of chronic pain include headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and more.
Neuropathic
Neuropathic pain comes from damage to the nerves and nervous system. This can be felt as shooting, stabbing, burning sensations or the experience of ‘pins and needles’. Neuropathic pain is a form of chronic pain, since it lasts for a long time even if it’s intermittent. Neuropathic pain can lead to mobility issues since it has a stronger impact on movement.
Nociceptive
Nociceptive pain is a result of tissue damage. It’s felt as a sharp, aching, or throbbing pain, usually on the exterior of the body. Cuts, punctures, and breaks are all examples of this type of pain. Nociceptive pain usually affects joints, muscles, skin, tendons, and bones. Depending on the type of injury, it can be acute or chronic.

Here at Saje Natural Wellness, we have a proclivity for high-quality natural remedies that address a physical problem, as well as support mental and emotional well-being. That’s why, on top of addressing issues with energy, sleep, and stress, for example, there is also an entire collection dedicated to natural pain relief. There are multiple forms of natural pain relief options at Saje, depending on your needs and preferences. Below we share more on some of our favourites:
Extra Strength Pain Relieving Oil Blend
This is the largest and strongest roll-on for natural pain relief. It promotes both a warming and cooling sensation to relieve minor aches and pains in the muscles and joints. It’s best used for helping treat pain from simple backaches, arthritis, strains, bruises, and sprains. Rejuvenate your body and mind with benefits derived from sweet birch, peppermint, and clove.
Apply this essential oil blend as needed to sore or tense areas of your body, such as quads, hamstrings, biceps, and your lower back. Rub or massage the oil into your skin as desired, three or four times daily.
Muscle Melt
Muscle Melt can be purchased as a body butter as well as bath salts. The body butter offers comfort and support through smooth base ingredients that provide nourishment. Bask in the sharp scent of sweet birch and herbaceous rosemary as your muscles are restored. Hydrate and invigorate your skin with the replenishing butter of mango seed, cocoa seed, and shea. Apply it to your sore muscles, massage it in, and relax.
With Muscle Melt bath salts, you can enjoy the same invigorating scents and natural relief, all while decompressing in a warm bath. For full restorative benefits, simply add two to five tablespoons to your bath and soak for twenty to thirty minutes. Baths are already great for a sore body, and you can make them even more beneficial with Muscle Melt.
