Recently a marketing expert informed me that our Saje customers, women, cared mo re about how good they looked than how healthy they were. That explains the diets, use of slimming pills and feet-damaging high heels.
For a moment, I felt sad.
In a TED video I watched recently I was reminded of the importance of always asking WHY? to whatever I am pursuing in my life.
I also want to look good. Why? Because I think I will be more readily accepted by others. A likely myth, I suppose, but let’s continue… Why is being accepted so important? Perhaps it’s because I’ll acquire and enjoy more friendships. And if this is in fact the case, I’ll have more moments of deep connection. Why are these moments of deep connection so important to me? Because they makes me happy! AHA!
Happiness. The primary reason why I ultimately pursue most experiences, relationships or things.
With that established, let’s move back to wellness. Can I be happy if I’ve built a great business but given up my wellness in the process? Can I even have a great marriage if my wellness is lacking? How good a friend can I be if I’m sick and my resources are depleted. My contributions to the planet, big or small, appear to be directly affected by my lack of or abundance of wellness.
This dawned on me this morning and my simplistic conclusion is as follows: Wellness = Happiness & Happiness = Wellness.
What brings you happiness?
