Sun Sense: Sun Protection or Skin Conditioner?

Sun Sense: Sun Protection or Skin Conditioner? We're really excited to now be carrying all natural sun protection, and the best part is Sun Sense can also be used as a moisturizer!

I’ve always had an easier time than most with the sun. Maybe it’s my olive skin, maybe it’s that I can wear long sleeves in high heat. I also believe in hats and shade. Some would argue that my motorcycle gear and helmet is my favourite protection. So, I wasn’t sure our Sun Sense broad-spectrum sunscreen was going to be a big addition to the products I am passionate about.

Then, to make matters worse, came this years reluctant Vancouver summer, but there was this family wedding in Toronto. And Kate (my wife and Co-Founder of Saje) decided to invite 16 nieces and nephews to the beach. I organized a soccer game and then it was time to take my shirt off and put sun protection on. What a relief it was to be free of the petrochemicals and fake coconut smells. In fact, the great Lavender smell made the application a joy.

Detoxing for your Health & Waistline

Detoxing for your Health & Waistline Detoxing may be the answer to achieving a healthy, ideal weight and a happy chemical balance in your body. Learn how you can maximize this powerful technique to eliminate the toxins that are making you tired, moody or depressed.

Are detoxing and your ideal weight connected?

Detoxing (or better yet, avoiding toxins in the first place) is no longer a good thing to do. It’s a priority! I now liken detoxing to flossing. I don’t always enjoy doing it, so I floss only the teeth I want to keep.

I’m often asked about stubborn belly fat or those last 10 pounds, mood swings and an inability to sustain weight loss. Those are legitimate concerns and part of having a happy life. 90% of our body’s serotonin is made in the gut so a happy gut makes a happy person.

The answer to achieving an ideal weight and a happy chemical balance can be found in a simple mind set. Minimize the chemicals and foods that toxify and maximize the natural foods that detox.

Detox Retox

Detox Retox Are your retox activities outweighing your detox activities? Jean-Pierre LeBlanc examines how we can all benefit from both, without having to give up a delicious indulgence every now and then.

My wife, Kate, and I were having a romantic getaway at a quiet inn where we were celebrating Valentine’s Day. In a conversation that was easy and general, Kate dropped a line that stopped me in my tracks.  ”I know of no one that eats healthier than you.”

In that moment, I knew that my passion for what detoxes my body must be my super power.

In my mind I was thinking, “Really?!  Honey, do you not see all my indulgences? My short cuts?  The over-sized meals, the late meals, the popcorn in lieu of dinner because I’m at the movies?!” However, I am constantly looking for detox strategies so I can stay one step ahead of my retox activities.

Wellness for Christmas?

Wellness for Christmas? Christmas can be an incredibly stressful time, but it can also be a great time of personal growth and wellness. Saje Co-Founder, Jean-Pierre LeBlanc examines how we can all choose to help ourselves to wellness during the hectic holiday season.

Bah Humbug! I’ll wait till January for that, I’ve got too much to do!

Well… I’ve now experienced that approach and the opposite, and I have learned a huge lesson.  Twenty years of careful observation has taught me this: Aging is not linear. Over the next month or so of parties and late nights I can age a month or I can age 10 years. Of course in January or February I can go to Mexico and recover some or most of that but that’s expensive! On my wallet and on my body.

Why Wellness?

Why Wellness? Why is being accepted so important? Jean-Pierre LeBlanc examines the universal desire to receive acceptance from our peers, and the moves that we make to achieve this acceptance.

Recently a marketing expert informed me that our Saje customers, women, cared mo re about how good they looked than how healthy they were. That explains the diets, use of slimming pills and feet-damaging high heels.

For a moment, I felt sad.

Love Languages

Love Languages Knowing your Love Language, and that of your partner's can foster communication, support and understanding in your relationship. Find out what your Love Language is here.

I explored testing the depth of wellness in my relationship in my last blog. I didn’t mention how much my wellness is impacted for better or for worse based on the degree that I’m creating goodness or consuming goodwill. Goodwill can have a such a short shelf life, perhaps a little better than a soufflé. Does anyone actually still cook soufflés anymore?

Relationship Wellness

Relationship Wellness The gift of being deeply listened to cannot be underestimated, and it is a gift that will strengthen any relationship, romantic or otherwise.

In my last blog I brought my attention to creating versus consuming. In the wellness game, my primary relationship is just that, primary. What am I creating in that arena? Do I dare have a closer look?

Most happily married men know and live by the adage, “When she’s happy, I’m happy.” So is she? Do I dare ask? I know from coaching my clients that wives are almost never as happy as hubbies believe. Usually by a large margin. So do I just ask her?

Am I Creating or Am I Consuming?

Am I Creating or Am I Consuming? How I plan for creativity is as easy as declaring the time and space and sticking to the commitment. It can be Monday mornings in the boardroom or Friday afternoon at a wine bar.

I was reminded of the distinction last night, and what a profound moment of awareness it was. This distinction occurs in my wellness, in my relationships and in my businesses. In any given moment I’m in creative mode, full of life and vision and execution energy… or I’m consuming resources, using up cash, burning up reserves.

Both approaches are valid but if I don’t consciously plan the creative cycle into my life, my relationship (I’ll share how in my next blog) and my career, I might spend long enough on the consuming cycle to experience scarcity thoughts, experiences and beliefs. That leads to declining contributions and dullness. Bored and boring are kissing cousins, right?

How I plan for creativity is as easy as declaring the time and space and sticking to the commitment. It can be Monday mornings in the boardroom or Friday afternoon at a wine bar. For my primary relationship, Wednesday home cooked meals, Friday night Sushi/Movie dates followed by conversation that matters. And even that, after a while, will lose it’s creativity! It’s got to be fresh, new, exciting. I declare the courage to tear down what’s working and build up What Rocks. I love the saying; “Good is the enemy of Great.”

Rocking creations anyone?

Conscious Conversation

Conscious Conversation I now understand that brushing my teeth and aligning my brain are the same act. Bacteria will attach itself in my mouth and stinky thinking will materialize if I don't consciously choose otherwise.

Where do I turn when things appear more difficult than my brain can handle?

For well over a decade, I’ve had the good fortune of having a resource that won’t quit me and that appears to remain a step ahead of any personal development work I do.
